Button Wars 2007
I have embarked on an attempt to get one of my friends to vote for Hillary Clinton. It should make for an interesting year as this person (who I shall not name) actually worked for the Republican Party for quite some time. But, I once convinced a Bush Sr. supporter (it took months of effort) to vote for Dukakis(!), so I'm fairly confident I can pull this one off.
I decided to use the principle of cognitive dissonance to start the ball rolling, thinking that if I could get her to engage in a pro-Hillary behavior, then her attitudes would have to snap into line as well. So, I gave the lovely gift you see above, and pinned it to her office door. If I could just convince her to leave it there--as a conversation piece or something--I figured I was well on my way to racking one up for the big HC. The next day, I found this relic on my office door! An honest-to-goodness dubya artifact from the only time he ran for president and lost. Notwithstanding its importance to political history, I really couldn't let that stand on my door, now could I? So, I dressed it up a tad. Whatdya think?
Accused by said friend of "defiling" the object, I later stopped by her office to find the following. Looks like I've got a long way to go!
